New York, USA: Today, a game-changing energy education tool will be unveiled at the United Nation’s Sustainable Energy for All Forum in New York City. Student Energy, a global non-profit, developed and designed the platform in consultation with hundreds of youth on all continents. The Energy Literacy Platform is the ideal starting point for anyone learning about the energy system.
Built with the twitter generation in mind, StudentEnergy.org is packed with animated videos, crisp write-ups and an interactive map of the entire energy system. Users will gain a clear, unbiased understanding of complex energy topics in just a few short minutes.
“Action starts with understanding.” says Kandeh Yumkella, UN’s Special Representative of the Secretary General and CEO Sustainable Energy for All. “Youth around the world are in need of new ways to learn about the challenges facing our global energy system, and Student Energy is providing a missing piece of this puzzle. I am delighted to congratulate them on the launch of StudentEnergy.org”
“Our student community was the inspiration for this platform,” says Kali Taylor, Executive Director of Student Energy. “When we started this project, we conducted focus groups with hundreds of post-secondary level students from all corners of the world, to identify the barriers to getting engaged with energy and sustainability issues.”
“The loudest request we heard was for more accessible energy information - a place where students could find unbiased facts that weren’t buried in a 500 page academic paper,” said Taylor. “The platform is designed specifically for how millennials learn. People can get informed on a topic, see where it fits in the energy system, and join in the conversation – all in under five minutes.
“This tool will revolutionize how youth learn about energy, and it will enable them to become the leaders we need to transition to a sustainable energy future.”
